After teaching art to many different grade levels, I have been organizing my free art projects and ideas by grade to make them easier to find. While there may be some overlap with our 3rd grade art projects, these art projects, lessons, and techniques are perfect for your creative 4th graders.

Tips For Art Teachers

Here are a few things to remember when doing any art project with fourth-grade students:

  • KEEP DIRECTIONS SHORT – Demonstrate instead of over-explaining
  • ALLOW CHOICE – Give structure but let kids personalize
  • BREAK INTO STEPS – Helps avoid overwhelm
  • EMBRACE IMPERFECTION – Focus on creativity over perfection

4th grade is such a special time; they are still kids, but can complete more difficult or advanced art projects with the right guidance and instruction. You will be amazed at the art your fourth graders can create! I know I always am.
