How To Build Tin Foil People
Step 1: Prepare Aluminum Foil
Rip a large square of aluminum foil and fold in half. Draw a line in the bottom section for the legs and 2 lines in the top for the head and arms.
Step 2: Cut The Lines
Carefully cut the lines with scissors.
Step 3: Sculpt Arms
Carefully sculpt one arm by scrunching the foil together. Make sure not to rip the foil.
Step 4: Repeat
Continue sculpting the other arm, legs and head. Bend the tin foil to create a pose or gesture.
Step 5: Add Extra Details & A Base
You can choose to make other details like a ballerina skirt or cap to wrap and attach to your sculpture. Once complete, hot glue a small piece cardboard so your person stands.
Tips
- PROJECT EXTENSION IDEA – Instead of gluing to cardboard, you could glue the tin foil sculpture to a large piece of paper and then trace the shadow.
- ADD LABELS – For younger children, it may be easier to write head, arms and legs on the foil. This will be scrunched up so it will be hidden.
