Do you love interdisciplinary projects for kids? This leaf collage project is an art project perfect for creative kids this Fall (or really, any time of the year)! You will be amazed at the leaf creatures your artists make!

Have you ever read a book with kids and immediately thought about how it is a great jumping-off point for a kid art activity? Lois Ehlert’s book, Leaf Man, is exactly one of those stories for me. There are numerous ways to use her illustrations as inspiration for your next leaf art project for kids.

How To Make Leaf Man Collages
BEFORE YOU BEGIN – Decide how to make your leaf prints. The Leaf man examples in this tutorial are created using marker leaf prints. You can also make leaf prints with paint.

Step 1: Print Your Leaves
Use markers and water, paint or simple leaf rubbings. We have linked to our full tutorials above.

Step 2: Cut The Lines
Color, paint water and print several different leaves.

Step 3: Cut and Glue
Pick the size of construction paper you want to use as your base and glue the dried leaf print on.

Step 4: Repeat
Use other paper to add to the Leaf Man collage.
Optional: Use drawing materials to complete the collage.
